BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Christian Brothers University Bucs finished sixth in the Gulf South Conference Championships Saturday at Veterans Park in Hoover, Ala.
Nate Spears (Dayton, Ohio/Beavercreek HS) led the Bucs with a 13th-place finish, a 26:57 time on the 8k course.
Max Group (Dayton, Ohio/Beavercreek HS) finished 31st in 27:51, followed by
Brett McAdams (Cleveland, Ohio/Brecksville-Broadview HS) in 37th in 28:04.
Alex Shipp (Collierville, Tenn./Collierville HS) and
Rex Hammonds (Memphis, Tenn./Central HS) finished the Bucs' scoring as they crossed the line back-to-back in 48th and 49th. Shipp finished in 28:37, while Hammonds finished in 28:47.
Spears earned a spot on the All-GSC Second Team with his 13th-place finish.
Brittly Butler (Dyersburg, Tenn./Dyersburg HS) led the Lady Bucs with a 54th-place finish in 22:04 on the women's 5k course.
Porsha Chillis (Memphis, Tenn./East HS) finished 69th in 23:24, followed by
Danielle Hobbs (Cordova, Tenn./Cordova HS) in 75th in 23:40.
Jessica Beck (Lakeland, Tenn./Arlington HS) was 77th in 23:50, and
Rachael Haag (Memphis, Tenn./St. Agnes Academy) finished the CBU scoring with a 91st place finish in 25:22.
The CBU cross country teams will run in the NCAA Division II South Regional in Tampa, Fla., Saturday, Nov. 7.
