MEMPHIS—Christian Brothers University men’s basketball coach Mike Nienaber has announced the signing of Memphis White Station guard Harry Green to a National Letter of Intent to join the Bucs next season.
Green, a 6-0 sharpshooter, was part of a Spartan dynasty that appeared in the last three TSSAA Class AAA state championship games, winning the state title his junior year. As a senior, he averaged 9.8 points per game and 7.0 assists per game. He was named All-Region as a senior, and he was named the Most Valuable Player of the Chubby Andrews Invitational.
“Harry is a great fit for our style, because he is a great shooter and ballhandler,” said Nienaber. “He’s a good fit academically, and it’s great to get a player from White Station, one of the top schools in the city. He was overshadowed on that team because they had so many Division I players, but the little surprise that everyone is going to find out is that Harry is a Division I caliber player too.”
Two of Green’s high school coaches played for Nienaber. His head coach, Jesus Patino, was a senior on Nienaber’s best team at Clinton (Miss.) High School, which went 25-7 and was ranked as high as No. 6 in the state, and assistant coach Chris Simpson played for Nienaber at Bethel College.
Green is the first Memphis City Schools product to join the Bucs since Wayne Moody (Overton High) from 2002-04 and Lou Wright (Raleigh-Egypt High) in 2004-05.
He is the Bucs’ second signee of the spring, joining St. Louis Christian Brothers College Prep guard Cory McArthy.
