MEMPHIS—The Gulf South Conference recognized 16 former Christian Brothers University student-athletes and one former coach when it announced its cross country and volleyball All-Decade Teams as well as the soccer All-Time Teams.
Three Lady Bucs soccer players earned a spot on the All-Time All-GSC First Team, led by the GSC's All-Time Women's Soccer Player, Missy Gregg. Gregg shattered the CBU, GSC, and NCAA record books in 2001-02, scoring 135 goals and scoring 287 points in 47 games, leading CBU to a 47-2 record in two years, winning the 2002 National Championship after finishing as runner-up in 2001.
Margaret Saurin (2001-02) and Veronica Botold (2001-03) joined Gregg on the First Team. Five Lady Bucs players earned Second-Team honors: Arna Heimlund (2001-03), Anna Rask (2001-03), Sofia Rask (2001-03), Anna Thorsdottir (1999-2001), and Stacy-Jo Fletcher (2003-04). Former coach Gareth Sullivan 1998-2003) was named the Second-Team coach, and Shoko Mikami (2003) was an Honorable Mention.
Five CBU men's soccer players earned spots on the All-Time Team, led by first-teamers Matt Werakso (2005-07) and Barry Gibney (1998-2001). Robert Mingo (2006-09), Tim Arnebold (1998-2001), and Ian Ford (1999-2002) were named to the All-Time Second Team.
Former cross country star Stephen Hill earned a First-Team All-Decade nod, while former volleyball star Laura Washington was named Second-Team West Division All-Decade.
The GSC will announce its winter All-Decade Teams July 15, while the spring All-Decade Teams are scheduled to be announced July 22.
